Bhubaneswar: “I am feeling very proud to have represented my country, India and to be a part of the Indian contingent,” said Pratyasha Ray, the swimming sensation of Odisha who has brought laurels to the country by winning four gold and one silver medal at the South Asian Aquatic Championship(SAAC) 2016,held at Colombo in Sri Lanka.
“It has been a difficult journey for me. I hail from a middle class family. Swimming is considered to be a high class sport with lots of expenses. Though I underwent many problems, now I am reaping the benefits of my hard work,” revealed Pratyasha.
Pratyasha won the three gold medals in 4X100m relay event, 4X100 mixed relay event and 200 mts back stroke at the championship, according to reports. In addition, she has bagged a silver medal in the 50m backstroke event at the swimming championship.
