BJD MLA Surrenders In Murder Case

Bhadrak: Dhamnagar MLA, Muktikanta Mandal today surrendered before the Bhadrak Additional District Judge court in connection with a 2002 murder case of Niranjan Jena.
Earlier, he had moved High Court seeking anticipatory bail to evade arrest.
However, he was asked to surrender before the lower court and seek bail which will be considered by maintaining parity with the other accused persons.
His bail plea will be considered after 2 p.m by the court, according to the sources.
Notably, Jena was allegedly beaten to death by 20-25 men, including Muktikanta Mandal and Nepal Barik, on November 3, 2002.
The deceased said to be a close aide of Mandal was abducted by Mandal’s supporters from Antapur under Soro area in Balasore district who took him to Balinagar in Basudevpur and beaten to death.
