Six dacoits were apprehended by a special squad of Cuttack Upper Police Division (UPD) on 6 February after a brief exchange of fire in Khamanga Chhak of Kadarudrapur village at Balianta.
Notably, a special squad was recruited in Cuttack UPD a month ago to investigate the various lootsWe had noticed a particular pattern in the modus operandi of the looteras. The private organizations which collected money for CESU were mostly targeted. There was major loot in January where the miscreants looted around Rs 9 lakhs. The special squad was keeping a track on that gang.

“We got a tip-off that this gang would operate today and try to loot the money of a petrol pump under Balianta PS. To verify this information, the special squad was on a vigil on their movements. They were able to locate this gang on Khamanga Chhak of Kakarudrapur village, and there was an exchange of fire between the police and this gang. No one injured during this encounter. Six culprits were nabbed, some ammunition and 3 bikes were seized from their possession,” informed Y.B Khurania, Commissioner of Police.
