Priyanka Chopra To Play Ma Anand Sheela In Her Next

Los Angeles: Actress Priyanka Chopra will be essaying the role of spiritual leader and Oshos disciple Ma Anand Sheela in her next project.

The actress opened up about her project, which she is also producing, during an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.

“I am developing a feature with Barry Levinson. He is an iconic American director. We are developing it (from the perspective of) Sheela who is this guru who originated from India,” Priyanka said in a video clip, which surfaced on the Internet on Wednesday.

“She was his right hand woman and she was devious. She created a whole cult in America. He was called Osho. I don’t know if you’ve heard of him. It was amazing. I am developing that next for me to star in and produce,” she added.

The story of Ma Anand Sheela gained popularity after the success of the documentary “Wild Wild Country” – which charted the growth of Osho’s community from India to setting up a cult in Oregon in the US. It highlighted the role that Sheela played in the growth of the community, and its downfall.

Parcel Bomb Case: Crime Branch Files Chargesheet Against Punjilal, Confident Of Conviction

Cuttack: The Crime Branch presented a 65-page chargesheet in the Patnagarh Court today against the main accused Punjilal Meher, 11 months after the crime was committed.

Talking to the media persons in Cuttack, Crime Branch SP Anil Das said, “We have collected lot of evidence against him. There is scientific evidence, material proof seized from his residence, and even a psychological test which was conducted on him substantiates his crime.

Asked whether he will be convicted, the SP said, “He will be definitely be convicted as we have presented our case very strongly. We have found much collective evidence that he has gone to Raipur and has made the parcel posted from there. Punjilal even gave a live demo of bomb making, which was recorded by us. There are 76 witnesses in this case.”

About the loopholes, he informed, “We are unable to find the auto-rickshaw driver who carried the bomb for him to the courier company’s office. But he went to Raipur as we seized his motorcycle receipt from the railway station. He even showed us the route he took in Raipur. So we are confident that these evidences are enough to convict him.”

Notably, in the infamous Patnagarh parcel bomb case, the mastermind Punjilal Meher had planned and executed the parcel bomb crime single-handedly in which newly married techie Soumya Sekhar Sahu and his grandmother were killed. His wife Reema got seriously injured.

Watch: Leopard Roaming Freely On Road In Odisha’s Bolangir, DFO Claims No Threat To Life

Bolangir: A majestic leopard was sighted roaming freely on the road late last night and the visuals have been captured on a mobile phone. After its viral circulation on social media, fear and panic has gripped the people regarding safety of public and the animal itself.

However, Divisional Forest Officer Samirkanta Satpathy has restored normalcy and said, “The area where the leopard was sighted was in Badmal area’s Banei reserve forest region. It is a restricted area as an Ordnance Factory is situated there and no vehicles or public is allowed. Due to the forest, such incidents are common there but I have to admit that sightings have increased in the last month. Maybe because the wild animals are feeling safe in the area as they have realized that there is no danger to their lives from vehicles and public.”

“The security guards of the factory take adequate measures and they know that the animals should not be irritated. Had the animals been hungry, they would have preyed on cattle or infants in the nearby villages. But that is not the case as the forest is filled with wild boars and deers which is why the leopards are never starving,” the DFO concluded.

Odisha: Maoists Fell Trees, Block Road In Kandhamal During ‘Protest Week’

Kandhamal: Close on the heels of torching a bus in Malkangiri, the red rebels have blocked the Baliguda-Daringbadi road by felling trees near Pakaladami ghat here today morning thus observing the ‘Protest Week’ in full swing.

Vehicular movement was adversely as Maoists also blocked Durgapanga road in Kotagad block and Mundanaju ghat road of Daringbadi Block. The trees that were felled to block the roads also have posters on them in which the red rebels have called upon people to observe January 31 as ‘Bharat Bandh’.

In Malkangiri, the last day of protest week is also being observed in full force. Government vehicles are not plying and traffic has also come to a halt on Jeypore-Malkangiri road.

On Monday night, around 20 armed Maoists had allegedly torched a private passenger bus near Mahupadar under Mathili PS in Odisha’s Malkangiri district. They even thrashed the driver, conductor and helper for plying the bus during the ‘Protest Week’ and snatched their cash and mobile phones.

However, the passengers were spared. Then the Maoists put posters and leaflets in the area before fleeing from the spot.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik To Inaugurate Slew Of Projects In Mayurbhanj

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is scheduled to inaugurate 11 public welfare projects, lay foundation stone of six others and address a ‘Mission Shakti’ convention during his visit to Mayurbhanj district today.

The projects to be inaugurated include four bridges, two girls’ hostel, a public health centre, three piped water supply projects and a government building. Besides, he will lay foundation stones of two bridges, two piped water supply projects, one irrigation project and one river boundary wall project.

Patnaik will distribute seed money of Rs 15,000 each to 20,295 Women Self Help Groups (WSHGs) at the ‘Mission Shakti’ convention at Chhau Padia in Baripada.

Further, he will distribute Rs 25 lakh each to 26 block-level federations, Rs 3,000 each to 39,418 WSHGs to digitally empower women and Rs 49 crore in total to WSHGs and federations in Mayurbhanj district.

Odisha: Tribal Girl Student Dies In Kanyashram Under Mysterious Circumstances

Soro: A 14-yr-old girl, inmate of Phurubai Kanyashram situated in Soro of Balasore district, was found dead in mysterious condition on Wednesday morning in her hostel. Another girl is critical and is undergoing treatment in Soro Hospital.

As per sources, the girl is alleged to have been poisoned. But it is yet to be ascertained that whether it was just a case of food poisoning or she was ‘murdered’.

Odisha: Orphaned Minor Girl Impregnated By Distant Relative

Koraput: An orphaned minor girl was found pregnant in Dumaguda village under Dasmantapur police limits of Koraput district. Her aunt lodged a complaint against a distant relative alleging him to have impregnated the girl.

The police have detained the accused and are investigating into the case. It is suspected that the accused man lured the girl into a love affair and developed physical relation with her.
