Rourkela: After arresting two persons on Monday, the Plant Site police have arrested another man in connection with World Cup betting. 3,000 US Dollars and a passport have also been seized from the possession of the accused.

It is notable to mention here that Nagarmalla Agarwal and Sunil Agarwal were apprehended on Monday night during Bangladesh and Afghanistan match after a raid at Janta Niwas lane. Rs 31 lakh and 16 mobile phones were seized from them.

Further probe into the matter is underway, police said.

Odisha Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell To Reopen From July 1 | Odisha News

Bhubaneswar: The Grievance Cell of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will reopen from July 1, stated an official release issued by the CMO on Monday.

Along with that, grievance cells of Chief Secretary, departmental Secretaries and district collectors will also resume functioning from the same day.  These cells will function on Monday every week, added the press release.

The Chief Minister’s grievance cell had been closed from March 11 till the end of general election process in the wake of Model Code of Conduct enforcement. Following that, the grievance cell and all other grievance cells were closed across the State due to heatwave conditions.

4 Arrested For Tonsuring & Torturing Lovebirds In Odisha’s Mayurbhanj | Odisha News

Mayurbhanj: Four persons have been arrested in connection with tonsuring and torturing a couple in full public glare on Monday at Mandua village under Karanjia police station. The arrested persons are Sk Nausad, Sk Mustafiz, Sk Ashiq and Sk Kutu of the same village.

“On the basis of the case registered by the female victim, police immediately took action and rescued them to safety. Four main accused have also been arrested and forwarded to court,” informed Karanjia SDPO Narayan Naik.

Sources added that the woman was married but her husband had left her. She was having an affair with another youth of the village that angered the locals and they took the extreme step, stated reports.

“Due to sensitivity of the matter, police is keeping a close watch on the situation to maintain peace and harmony in the area. At the same time, steps are being taken for apprehension  of other accused persons,” informed Mayurbhanj SP Awinash Kumar.

Odisha: Minor Irrigation Department Assistant Engineer In Vigilance Net | Odisha News

Mayurbhanj: The vigilance sleuths initiated simultaneous raids at 6 places belonging to Udala’s Minor Irrigation Department assistant engineer Neelakantha Padhi.

The officials raided Padhi’s houses at Mirza Pokhari, Nelia Bag, his paternal home at Udangi, his residence at Bhubaneswar. He is known to have amassed disproportionate assets against his known sources of income.

The sleuths came across various bank accounts, and have seized a flat and locker in Bhubaneswar also.

Bhubaneswar: The vital all-party meeting convened by Odisha Assembly Speaker today assured smooth conduct of the House proceedings since it has been the first session of 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly (OLA) after the recently concluded general elections as well as being the most significant Annual Budget session of the State.

Soon after the important meeting, Odisha Assembly Speaker Surya Narayan Patro informed media, “Today I had invited some leaders of all political parties of the newly formed Legislative Assembly. It was attended by Government Chief Whip Pramia Mallick, Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari, former minister and senior MLA Debi Prasad Mishra, another senior MLA Pranab Das (all from BJD). Former Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra form Congress, former ministers and senior MLAs Jayanarayan Mishra and Pradipta Naik from BJP also attended. ‘Kabir Singh’ Crosses Rs 70 Cr In Opening Weekend

Mumbai:  Actor Shahid Kapoor’s “Kabir Singh” has registered business of over Rs 70 crore in its opening weekend at the box office.

The film minted Rs 20.21 crore on day one, Rs 22.71 crore on day two and Rs 27.91 crore on day three, taking the total business to Rs 70.83 crore, according to a statement from the film’s representative.

“Kabir Singh”, which also stars Kiara Advani, is a remake of the popular Telugu hit film “Arjun Reddy” that originally starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Krishan Kumar and Ashwin Varde, the film opened on June 21. The remake is written and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. It is a T-Series and Cine1 Studios presentation.
