Notice Issued To Owner To Remove Malaysian Ship From Chilika Within 7 Days | Odisha News

Bhubaneswar: Taking strict action, Puri district administration on Thursday issued notice to the owner of Malaysian cargo ship ‘Jin Hwa 32′ that has gone aground on the Chilika Lake’s coast since August 7.

The notice has been served to West Bengal based company Lords Bluetech exporter to make necessary arrangements and undock the container and ship within seven days. And, two days deadline has been set for oil extraction from the ship.

While Commerce and Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera had assured no danger to Chilika from the grounded ship, oil removal from the ship began from Wednesday.

Notably, the ship was traveling from to Vishakhapatnam and was washed ashore after being damaged by high winds and rough seas.

CBI Files Supplementary Chargesheet In Artha Tatwa Scam | Odisha News

Bhubaneswar: The CBI has filed a supplementary chargesheet in the multi-crore Artha Tatwa Group chit-fund scam in a designated court here on Thursday. In the chargesheet, the CBI has named three persons including representative of a hotel and then Honorary Secretary of Odisha Cricket Association.

They have been charged under multiple sections of IPC and Prize Chits & Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978, in an ongoing investigation into the AT scam case. CBI had registered the case against AT Group along with many other companies for their alleged involvement in the multi-crore scam in which a large number of people were duped. The CBI had taken over the case from local police in May 2014.

During course of further investigation, it was alleged that the Odisha Cricket Association through its Honorary Secretary and in criminal conspiracy with Odisha based Group of Companies, promoted the said Group of Companies. This supplemented the credibility of the companies rose in the eyes of general public and more people invested in the different schemes floated by group,” a press note issued by the CBI stated.

Kandhamal Twins Jaga-Balia To Return Odisha On Sept 7 From Delhi AIIMS | Odisha News

Bhubaneswar: It is now final as Odisha Health Minister today confirmed that the separated conjoined twins of Kandhamal, Jaga and Balia, will be discharged from Delhi AIIMS on September 6 and reach Odisha next day.

Informing media today at Lok Seba Bhawan here, Health Minister Naba Kishore Das said that the separated twins will be discharged from Delhi AIIMS on September 6 and brought to Odisha.

Detailing on their return journey, the Minister stated that they will be boarding the Rajdhani Express on September 6 and reach Cuttack railway station on September 7. From there they will be admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital.

Jaga-Balia and their parents will be accompanied by AIIMS doctor team and Delhi-based Odisha Bhawan staff.

The Mystery Behind Puri Emaar Mutt’s Deep Underground Chamber | Odisha News

Puri: A major portion of the 900-year-old Emaar Mutt located near the Lion’s Gate (Singhadwar) was being demolished on Thursday. The age-old mutt is closely linked to the Jagannath Temple and has always been mythical.

On Thursday, while the Mutt was being demolished, the district administration discovered a very high/deep chamber in one of the corners.

Sources said, this chamber was around 3-storeyed high and is linked to a tunnel which leads to an exit. The news about this underground chamber spread like wildfire and there was a huge crowd to catch a glimpse of this portion of the Mutt.

While some suggested that this could be a hidden treasure room, others claimed, it was at this place, secret rituals were performed in ancient times.

Eviction Drive Up To 75 Mtrs From Puri Srimandir Begins With Demolition Of Nanguli Mutt | Odisha News

Puri: Structures with 75 metre radius of Puri Srimandir are being demolished in a mega Rs 500-crore developmental and beautification drive of the temple town. The structure to be demolished today is the Nanguli Mutt.

The Mutt located near the temple had been declared unsafe a decade ago. Atleast 10 shops running business from the mutt have already moved their stock as per District Administration’s orders.

Puri Collector had previously informed that the Mutt Mahant had agreed with vacating the premises and also with relocation.

Including District Collector and Puri SP, seven Magistrates are present at the site of demolition. Additionally, 30 platoon police force and Odisha Swift Action Force (OSAF) personnel have been deployed in Puri to maintain law and order situation.

Drone To Monitor BBSR Traffic, ‘No Overtaking Zone’ Between Rabindra Mandap & Airport | Odisha News

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to streamline the increasing traffic congestion in State capital city here, new Police Commissioner of Twin City Sudhanshu Sarangi informed on Monday that drone camera will monitor the movement of vehicles.

The area between Rabindra Mandap and Biju Patnaik International Airport will be made No Overtaking Zone. Drone will monitor and regulate this. Drivers are required to maintain lane-driving. Strict action will be taken against drivers caught flouting rules,” he said.

Notably, newly appointed Traffic DCP of Bhubaneswar Sagarika Nath had informed on Sunday that Police Commissioner and senior officers were working on a strategy to ease the traffic congestion and related problems of the Capital City.

Man Beheads Wife Suspecting Infidelity In Odisha’s Puri, Carries Head And Surrenders | Odisha News

Puri: A man first attacked his wife and then beheaded her suspecting infidelity at Raiberuan village under Astaranga police limits here. The matter came to light when the accused walked into Astaranga police station with the head of his deceased wife on late Sunday.

The accused, Ganesh Behera, had married Arnapurna who hails from Kakatpur’s Olangar village. Ganesh works for a private firm in Chennai. He was back home since a few days and the couple had frequent arguments suspecting Arnapurna’s fidelity.

Last night during one such heated argument, Ganesh lost his cool and killed his wife in cold blood. Later using a sharp weapon he beheaded his wife and carrying her head he reached Astaranga Police station.

The police have taken Ganesh into custody and have also recovered rest of the victim’s body for post-mortem. Further probe into the matter is underway.

Odisha Teacher Thrashed, Tied On School Gate For Sexually Assaulting Minor Girl | Odisha News

Malkangiri: A teacher was tied to the school gate and thrashed by villagers for alleged sexual assault of a Class VI girl in Malkangiri.

On August 23, the teacher identified as Ashwin Dehury had allegedly called the minor girl to his house on pretext of checking notes and assaulted her sexually.

Later on August 25, Dehury again attempted to outrage the modesty of the girl inside pump house of the school.

The villagers took the matter into their hands after the girl reported the matter to her family members.

District Welfare Officer (DWO) Pratipta Kumar Panda said he has sent a two-member team to probe the incident. After receiving the reports, he will apprise the Collector and take action accordingly.

Odisha: Double Murder in Keonjhar Over Black Magic Suspicion | Odisha News

Keonjhar: In a nerve-wracking incident, bodies of a woman and her nephew were found at Nekedapali village under Bamebari Police limits here on Tuesday. It is suspected that the duo was brutally murdered over black magic suspicion.

The deceased have been identified as 75-year old Subas Munda and her nephew Chaitanya Munda. Both of them belong to Munda Sahi in Nekedapali.

Reportedly, Rama Munda, Bijay Munda, Biju Munda, Dam Munda and Tusha Munda conspired and murdered the duo over suspicion of black magic practice.

Swinging into swift action, Bamebari Police have taken the accused into custody and have also begun questioning them.
